Going on, Kin Dynasty, which was a tradition once joined China, was popular for its Palace and Temple style divider works of art. In Han Dynasty, works of art on silk once showed up in Chinese composition history. Calligraphy assumed increasingly significant job in Chinese artistic creation in Jinn Dynasty. In SSI Dynasty, scene artworks always engaged. Turing in Tang Dynasty, human figures compositions were progressively grown, so were scene artistic creations and blossoms and winged animals canvases. In Song Dynasty, in light of past encounters, various works of art were very much changed in new manners, uncommonly ink artistic creations. Likewise in this period, Xii He built up the Six standards Of Chinese artistic creations including soul reverberation, bone technique, correspondence to question, appropriateness to type, division and arranging, and transmission by duplicating (Xii, Preface). Yuan Dynasty proceeded past works of art strategies with its own chronicled topics. In conclusion, in Mining and King Dynasty, significantly more painters built up differently either in artworks or painting procedures or topics. Story compositions satisfied more extensive shading reaches and significantly more vivacious works of art turned out to be increasingly well known (Pan, P. - 82). Likewise, painters began battling contrary to the customary principles of painting and built up better approaches to communicate all the more straightforwardly through free brushwork. Notwithstanding, regardless of how emphatically Chinese works of art had being very much evolved and improved, for example, in methods tot utilizing shades, hues, or in topics tot communicating interesting recorded stories or distinctive custom, Chinese oil artistic creations didn't get a potential for success to have in Chinese workmanship history until late King. Beginning late King Dynasty, even Chinese oil artistic creations start to be grown very late, still, the method of development of Chinese oil canvases is rich. Fundamentally, the development of Chinese oil canvases can be isolated by three periods as a rule, which are the period before Mao Sedona, the period during Mao and the time recently Mao, and painters from every period have their own artistic creation styles to speak to the general work of art of the period, for example, Xx Beings authenticity compositions Sound of the Elute and The Foolish Man Who Moved the Mountains before Mao, Khan Assassins courage in Vive Heroes Of Mount Lang and Dong XENIX5 Kaki Guy Dad Diana for instance of craftsmanship utilized as an apparatus to serve for the legislature during Mao, and Chairman Mao Goes to Anyway, an Oil painting Of Lieu Chuan as a delegate Of painters lost rights to paint free and Lou Shingles imagery in the artwork Father during the late Mao. Starting at the late King time frame till the foundation Of China, Chinese painters began to get holds of the oil painting aptitudes with the end goal that in figures articulation, qualities, or utilization of shading. Numerous painters concentrated abroad to become familiar with the western style works of art, which assumed a significant job in Chinese oil painting history. Among these understudies, painters like Hung Fuzzy, Lie Shutout, Wang Wheezy, Change You, Line Finnegan, Xx Bending, and so on progressively so be it back to China from France and Japan. They engaged with Chinese oil works of art in the western painters way, and painted Chinese oil painting with the western painters intrigue and taste. This is one motivation behind why numerous painters oil works of art during their beginning period had progressively remote social emotions. In their artistic creation styles, what affected these painters who concentrated abroad are the authenticity painting style and the impressionism painting style. By and large, they painted individuals around them, city sees around them, or simply essential despite everything objects. In their artistic creations, they spoke to not just various painters individual feeling r individual encounters, yet in addition spoke to a sentiment of not being limited by Chinese customary culture (Wang. P. 5-42). Xx Bending as a significant painter in Chinese oil painting history, additionally as a painter concentrated abroad, can speak to this period. Xx contemplated oil painting in Paris and by consolidating Chinese conventional canvas strategies, Xx grew absolute first Chinese authenticity Oil painting. In his Oil painting preparing he gave an enormous sum consideration on essential outlining. What Xx is known for, is his dazzling strategies, which conveyed forward the western old style workmanship and joined piece Of the impressionism into is oil artistic creations. In Ex.s figures canvases, he painted models precisely with exquisite development sentiments. The utilization of light, shade and shading made the figures in the artistic creations all the more enthusiastic. All the figures in his compositions could speak to every single diverse possibility, for example, calm, sabotaging, delicate or solid. In his oil artworks of nature topics, he concentrated more on the nature and his very own sentiments. Along these lines, his pieces contact individuals by their imperativeness, explicit and imagination. Being used of hues in oil artistic creations, Xx can see obviously what the shading contrasts are on one single items; He changes to utilize assorted hues, which is retreat. Likewise, he can utilize hues to change lights between the fringes of light and dim. In Ex.s works of art, he can even utilize hues like dim red, orange or lemon yellow to paint figures skin, which never showed up (Wang, p. 184-190), For example, in Xx Beings oil painting Sound of the Flute, a youthful Chinese young lady inclined to the other side plays the flute (Andrews, P. 0-31), The young ladies articulation appears she is thinking, and simultaneously, she was gazing at far away with a touch of trouble in her eyes. We appear to have the option to hear the sound of the flute from the young lady. The foundation is peaceful and confined wide open view, and the old trees and the flying white crane that might be se en unclearly, makes an ill defined Chinese style air. The flute as Chinese conventional instrument sounds calm, delightful and relaxed. Additionally, it can sound tragic, which can make individuals recollect through their lives discreetly. Then again, the young lady in the canvas is named Kiang Bowie, Who was Ex.s darling once, however they isolated toward the end. Xx picks this picture to communicate the young ladies demeanor, and furthermore, it gives 3 sentiment Of a dismal Story. Also, in the artistic creation, it typified that Xx deliberately investigated oil works of art with Chinese trademark. For instance, its Structure, hues, methods, musings and even feelings give individuals the sentiments of the eastern works of art, particularly his compositions structure. In contrast to other conventional canvases, the young lady isn't painted in the inside. Indian Painting and Sculpture EssayThe close scene of the work of art gave one side view f the Temperament. The further scene portrayed various angles on the significant day: bright day and blue sky with white mists, and the wide square with a great many warnings (Andrews, P. 9-10). At this energizing second, every political Officer in the artwork demonstrated various feelings, for example, Mao Godsons quiet and genuine, GHz Deer satisfaction or Song Kindlings benevolence. Various feelings indicated individuals their own encounters and thinking, Which made every individual in the canvas, satisfied a novel soul. From the works of art Structure, despite the fact that the nation heads just took roughly 33% pace of the artistic creation, the nation chiefs despite everything pulled in considerations under the encircling of the red lamps, red columns and red floor coverings. Mao Godsons sound and enormous body was painted in the extremely focus of the canvas, which could speak profoundly significance of Mao driving the new China. Likewise, being used of hues, Dong additionally utilized red to contrast and the blue shade of the sky and sea, and the green shade of the trees, which made the scene all the more vivacious and more joyful. The gold shading couldn't just speak to the fall quarter yet in addition suggest the rich that loaded up with the painters all the best tort the development tot China. In conclusion, the third time frame in Chinese oil painting history is during the late Mao, which is after the year 1965. From 1966 to 1376, the Cultural Revolution occurred in China, which totally upset Chinese workmanship zone. Painters lost their opportunity of compositions on the grounds that during these ten years, craftsmanship was totally constrained by the administration to serve for its governmental issues. Accordingly, any type of craft of painters individual articulation vanished in these ten years (Andrews, P. 1-29). In another words, these ten years was very unfilled in Chinese workmanship history. During the Cultural Revolution, craftsmen of Mao Sedona turned into the principle current of oil works of art. These representations were adorned by painters dependent on certain photograph of Mao. Carnage model, Lieu Acanthuss Chairman Mao Goes to Anyway was known as the example plate Of Chinese new craftsmanship. A lot of this work of art was copied, and IL became one most generally spread artwork in Chinese history. Additionally, the basic quality Of artistic creations during this period was that in type Of managing figures, red and sparkling hues were utilized constantly to communicate the primary saints wonder and mammoth, and the principle legend was painted in the focal point of the meshes (Ai, P. 14). For example, in the broadly spread oil painting Chairman Mao Goes to Anyway, Lieu Chuan likewise followed the regular trademark, which Mao Sedona was painted in the focal point of the work of art, and on the face, red and sparkling could be effectively taken note. Moreover, the most significant reason for this canvas was to communicate Mao Godsons the monster picture and philosophy. Lieu likewise offered definitions to each and every move of Mao in the composition (Ai, p. 14-15). For instance, marginally raised head and somewhat wound neck indicated that Mao was not ternion tot hardships or perils, and he set out to tight tort the development. Unequivocally held left hand indicated that Mao had the confidence of winning the upheaval and freeing entire individuals in China. How Effective Islamic Mortgage Market In The Uk Finance Essay - Free Essay Example

When I was started to write a report on how effective Islamic mortgage market in the UK, I was surprised that I have a very few knowledge about this subject being as a Muslim. It happened to most of the Muslims as it was described before and most of the Muslims do not know about and even keep confidence to go for the Islamic Sharia complaint products. One of the main principles of Islamic finance is Musharakah, profit-loss-sharing implication where if the bank makes a loss then the customer also have to share the loss. The Islamic financial institutes should take initiation to spread the knowledge and faith to all over the community both Muslim and non-Muslim as it is not like a religious activity and it may bring benefit in their financial life. Currently Islamic Mortgage in UK is in the beginning level and in the growth situation as analysed in the previous chapters. Now Islamic banks in the UK act as financial intermediaries providing capital for home purchase, they are not dealing in properties. However, it is to be commended that conventional regulators, moving with times, are helping to create a level playing field for the Islamic finance industry. The UK financial regulatory body, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) has clearly mentioned that it is not favouring nor discriminating in regulating Islamic banks. Because of the different nature of contracts there are practical problems for Islamic banks. For this reason most of the Islamic banks use Sharia-compliant instruments such as murabaha, ijara and diminishing musharakah, but not Sharia-based like mudarabah and musharakah. It was discussed in the previous chapters that the Islamic mortgage market remains positive, with all the Islamic financial lenders expending their business to attract more and more customers. The Islamic Bank of Britain remains competitive despite a loss in the last financial year and continues to develop its product portfolio by introducing new product home purchase plan, recently expanding its market out of the Muslim majority cities into the Scottish market. But the average Islamic mortgage customers will still have to pay more money to buy a home comparatively with the conventional mortgage for a property value of 150000. According to Sharia making money from money is called Riba, such as charging the interest, is usury and therefore it is not permitted. In order to be in Islamic Sharia complaint the mark-up cost or the marginal cost should be reduced so that general customers can be relieved from extra monetary burden. Present situation indicates that many conventional bank who are involved in interest (riba) based business adapting and developing Islamic Sharia complaint products with a different window to attract a minority community Muslim which is a niche market or they can use the interest free fair trade and ethical finance to attract the all human being. As it was shown, the UK can provide the highest numbers Islamic financial education providers in the world. These could be helpful to the people as well as the employees of the Islamic mortgage lenders. Same type of Islamic mortgage product are marketing in different rates by the different lenders where as Islam is the same to all believers. Difference in accounting standards and financial reporting standards should be resolved to get the transparency about the financial transactions. Many of the Islamic and the conventional providers online service is not clearly presented, so most of the people do not get the accurate rate and the calculation of lending expenses of the properties. It will make many people interesting about the product by providing uniform information and database materials by the Government departments and the Islamic financial institutions of the UK. There is a proposal to set up a central Sharia supervisory board in the UK in order to combine all the Islamic fina ncial rules and instrument together. As the UK Islamic financial services industry is still very small compared to some other countries in the World, it would be more practical and cost effective for the Islamic financial institutions in UK to adopt the standards of the existing international standard setting bodies like Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), International Islamic Rating Agency (IIRA), International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM) and Liquidity Management Centre (LMC). Areas for Further Research In this paper, I have presented How effective Islamic mortgage market in the UK. The concept of Islamic mortgage, the growth, limitation of Islamic financial instruments and other relevant topics were discussed to get a conclusion. There are many other Islamic financial instruments and Islamic financial products like Sukuk (Bond) market which is another fastest growing Islamic product in the UK and another one is Takaful (Insurance) is not so much familiar with the general people of this country. There are some difficulties of Islamic finance to comply with the regulation, legal frame work, the financial reporting standards and audit assurance of this country and different parts of the World. So in near future extensive, exclusive research and in-depth analysis may be taken to adapt these principles with the Islamic finance.

Sample details Pages: 8 Words: 2368 Downloads: 2 Date added: 2017/06/26 Category Management Essay Type Case study Did you like this example? Advanced Strategic Management mHealth Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Advanced Strategic Management mHealth" essay for you Create order [ Advanced Strategic Management ] Contents Contents Introduction The Context and its Managerial Questions Stakeholder Map Analysis A Discovery Driven Strategy Virtuous Cycles via a Discovery Driven Strategy Product-Market Fit Customer Segment Customer Jobs Customer Pains Customer Gains Value Proposition The Hook Canvas Trigger External Trigger Internal Trigger Action Reward Investment Introduction As been discussed in assignment 2, we decided in our final project to research the business model and the winning strategy for a startup in the mHealth business. We identified 3 main areas for mHealth to be investigated: Wearable, Mobile App and BigData. In the first assignment, I discussed the business model for a typical mHealth mobile app. The most important part of a successful mobile app in general and specifically in mHeatlh app is customer engagement. In this assignment, I will research and discuss the features and the model that increase customer engagement and build a winning echo-system for the whole platform. As mHealth is moving rapidly and changes in that domain is aggressive, we decided to use the lean startup and discovery approach. That means minimum market research will be used and a more experimental and idea testing approach will be used instead. This discovery/incremental approach will give the statup the agility needed to steer its strategy as needed and faster time to market as well. The key aspects of the business model that will be discussed are Value Propositions and Customer Segments. The Context and its Managerial Questions The problem I am trying to solve is that despite higher mobile penetration rates across the worlds, the use of mobile technologies in healthcare is still behind expected rates and consumer expectations. mHealth stands at a significant inflection point with a big potential to play a significant role in the healthcare. From consumer point of view, mHealth is more convenient and can lead to reduce physician visits and hence cost. From assignment 2, there are current and promising potential for mHealth mobile app among both chronically ill then fitness and wellness conscious people. These 2 customer segments contribute to almost 60% of the total mHealth mobile users (research2guidance, 2014). The main challenge was how the business model and/or strategy will increase consumer adoption and engagement. The key success factor for a mHealth startup was building the eco-system that drive users to be engaged and locked-in. Stakeholder Map Analysis Before discussing the strategies, let us first plot the current stakeholder for such mHealth application on a stakeholder map according to their interest and influence. The stakeholders are: Chronically ill patients, Fitness Wellness Conscious People, Physicians, Hospitals, pharmaceutical Companies and Government entities. The key outcome from this map analysis is: chronically ill patients are the key player however the mHealth solution should meet the needs and specifications of both physicians and government regulations entities. The pharmaceutical companies on the other hand will be interested on both data and advertisements and should be considered. A Discovery Driven Strategy For a startup in mHealth markets a typical fixed strategy and planning will not be suitable nor realistic. mHealth market is highly uncertain, complex and fast-moving. A discovery driven approach (Rita McGrath) will be adopted as a suitable approach for such a turbulent and varying environments. Unlike conventional strategies that emphasize analysis, strategies that aim to discover and exploit new models must engage in substantial experimentation and learning i.e. a à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"discovery driven,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ rather than analytical approach. These strategies are about insight, rapid experimentation and evolutionary learning as much as the traditional skills of planning and execution. Virtuous Cycles via a Discovery Driven Strategy A discovery driven approach can be adopted to generate a virtuous cycles. Virtuous cycles (Ramon Casadesus-Masanell Joan E. Ricart, HBR 2011) will be a very effective way for the mHealth startup for both discover and experiment the business model and its strategy. This is also aligned the lean startup method of developing products by Eric Ries (2011) As the main target is to build a sufficient customer base to sustain revenue and increase bargaining power over other stakeholders, mHealth services should be offered as freemium services to drive and attract customer base that is in turn increase the startup bargaining power and revenue as well. The right diagram illustrate how the virtuous cycles can help the startup. This kind of business model requires experimentation which requires initial investment to start this cycle. This is a typical virtuous cycle that is been used by most of others in the market. The challenge for the startup then is to quickly create and capture mor e value than others in the market do. For such a situation ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s tough to know which business model will do well unless combining a discovery driven strategy during this virtuous cycle. There are some key drivers to kick-start this virtuous cycle. One of these drivers is what free mHealth features to be offered that will successfully address consumer pains. For this, Osterwalder Pain/Gain model will be used to design the value proposition. I would use also the Hook Canvas by Nir Eyal as a complimentary model to the Osterwalder Pain/Gain to tackle the point from different angles. Product-Market Fit The purpose of the product-market fit analysis to facilitate in designing Value Propositions that match Customers needs. Customer Segment The chronically ill patients segment will be sliced even more. As long as we are focusing on patients segment with chronic diseases, a separate job/app/features for the top 4 chronic diseases will be created. According to Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (www.CMS.gov), conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis and diabetes were highly prevalent. The most common chronic conditions among Medicare beneficiaries were: High blood pressure (58%) High cholesterol (45%) Arthritis (29%) Diabetes (28%) The following chart from Statista mHealth Dossier. It shows the top drivers for mHealth adoption among patients. These drivers will help in building both product-market fit and HooK canvas. mHealth value proposition in general is towards better healthcare using convenient channel and innovative solutions. For the purpose of this assignment, high blood pressure segment will be used. There should not be key differences on the overall strategy for other chronic conditions. Customer Jobs Customer Job(s) is about what high blood pressure patients is trying to get done using the proposed mHealth platform. It is mainly about how they are currently manage their condition. Question Answer Significance Frequency What functional jobs are you helping your customer get done? Log HBP Readings Get Feedback Recommendations Communicate with his doctor Reduce costs Reduce Visits High High What social jobs are you helping your customer get done? Free Simple and Convenient Word-of-Mouth Positive reviews substantial Value Proposition Giving the above customer segment pain, gain and jobs, the value proposition of the blood pressure mHealth platform will be to relieve these pains, create gain and deliver the customer job in a convenient way. The Hook Canvas The above figure illustrates the hook canvas model by Nir Eyal. The purpose of this model is to increase customer engagement through 4 major steps: Trigger, Action, Reward and Investment. The key concept of the hook canvas is to attach users through the most powerful force that is à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Habità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ . Patients with chronic conditions/diseases are already formed a daily habit of taking measurements, log it, taking prescriptions and follow up with their physician. This customer segment are the most ready segment to form a habit by using a convenient mHealth mobile app. The question will be, what will be the strategy for each step to form a habit of using the mHealth mobile app and increase customer retention. Forming customer habit improve business outcomes through: Increase customer lifetime value Provide pricing flexibility Reduce customer churn and increase retention Increase a businessà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s defensibility Trigger Understanding the HBP customer can help drive and forming the desired habit of using the mHealth platform. There are 2 types of triggers: External and Internal. External triggers as the name imply is any event like notifications, reminder, buttonà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ Whereas internal triggers are initiated within the user as a factor of their perception or emotional status. Negative emotions is considered a very powerful trigger compared to positive emotions. External Trigger Nir explains that effective triggers are well-timed, actionable and stimulate curiosity. In the HBP mHealth platform, the external triggers can be emails and notifications. Additionally, the more closely the external triggers to the internal ones the more it become effective. These type of external triggers include reminders for taking the measures at specific/ideal times. These external triggers are well-timed, actionable and can stimulate curiosity by asking specific questions to the patients regarding their mode, diet, weightà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ Family members and friends can be external triggers as they are care about the health of the HBP patient. Internal Trigger Internal triggers are powerful than the external ones. Internal triggers can be stimulated by time and the basis of forming a habit. Negative emotions triggers should be emphasized here. Negative emotions like fear of heart attack, lose job, away from family should be linked to the platform. Action Triggers should motivate people to take actions through the platform, actions then should be as simple as possible to adopt more customer. Technology and/or product must significantly reduce the steps to complete the measuring task to increase adoption rates. This can be achieved by a very simple, intuitive and convenient user interface to enter the measurements. A research in this area is essential. A very interesting place is https://coglode.com/ . This where a one can start leverage cognitive shortcuts to initiate simplistic actions. Reward à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Variable rewards seem to keep the brain occupied and providing an opportunity to plant the seeds of new habits,à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ says Nir Eyal. Rewards can be categorized into three type à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å" tribe rewards, hunt and self. Tribe rewards can be best achieved through comparing the measurements with others in the same conditions (Age, Sex, Weight) and give the users a sense of self progress and achievements compared to others. Hunt rewards can be achieved by providing promotions in prescriptions, doctor consultations and discount for appointments. Self-rewards can be achieved by providing goals and advises to achieve these goals. The goals can be lowering blood pressure through diet, exercise, anger managementà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ This will give the users a sense of achievement and progress towards their personal goals. Investment Nir describes investment as future rewards that makes the next action more likely. Users can invest in time, money, effort, content, personal data, social capital or even emotional commitment. Investment is the thing that guarantee customers lock-in and retention. Additionally, investment features in the mHealth platform will protect the copycat from rivals and give a competitive advantage that cannot be replicated. Cloud data is one of the features that will give the users a sense of investments. Historical readings and user actions will be saved on the cloud and the more the users use the platform the more investment in terms of personal data. Social features like communities, comments, likesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ are also can be seen as an investment from the usersà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ point of view. Users can not switch to other applications and ignore their relationships and their history that has been built already. Crossing the Chasm In 1991 Geoffrey A. Moore argued that there is an existing gap between early adopters of any new technology and the mass market. He explained that new concepts and technology get pulled initially by early adaptors then fail to get the attention of the mass market. This kind of situation is highly applicable for the mHealth platform desired. There should be a strategy or at least initial thought about how we can take such a startup and technology and cross the chasm to the mass market where the real money is. The strategy will be mainly: Focus on early adaptors and to select a specific customer segment (High Blood Pressure Patients) rather than all chronically ill patients. These early adaptors should be delighted as possible to the word of mouth will help crossing the chasm Marketing hype play an important Role here. How marketing will going to position the platform is very crucial. The positioning should be unique and focus on social and emotional aspects as well Reward and delight features will attract conservative people in the mass market 1 | Page

How to Dispose of a Corpse Essay - 3295 Words

Life always ends in death. Death is something most people do not like to think about but is inevitable. Other people give extensive thought and planning into what will actually happen to their mortal body. As long as we live, difficult decisions and choices must be made; even what we want to happen to our bodies after we die. Societies no longer just bury or cremate; corpuses are preserved, reused, and recycled. The United States of America as well as other countries offers traditional, unorthodox, and unusual disposal options which are influenced by culture, religion, or cost factors. For centuries, other cultures have tried to preserve their dead. The Egyptians were the first know society to preserve their dead through embalming†¦show more content†¦This method will preserve the body for a few weeks. Full embalming is more complicated and will preserve the body for about 100 years. The torso is cut open and all organs (to include the brain) are removed. The organs are dismembered with scissors or knives, and then dried with a preserving power. The preserving powder is spread into the empty torso and the organs are put back inside before the body sewn back together (9). After completing the embalming process the body is cleaned, groomed, and clothed, making it ready for display and to be transported to the gravesite. Natural burial would be chosen if more people knew the gruesome details of embalming. The validity of embalming is questionable. Embalming is not a legal requirement and requires the loved ones permission. The United States is the only country where embalming is frequently practiced (Colmane, 3). Many people believe it is an unnecessary environmentally unfriendly process and funeral homes encourage it as a way for them to make more money. Even though these issues may be valid, this method for preserving bodies is important and needed at times. Non-embalmed bodies will spill fluids, decompose quickly, and smell rotten. Therefore, when it takes a few weeks for a mortal body to be displayed or if it is going to be transported to a long distance location it should be embalmed. Firewood the Burns the Hottest and the Longest Essay

Firewood that Burns the Hottest and the Longest Purpose: Does the species of wood affect the rate at which it burns and how much heat it gives off? Hypothesis: If the burning time and heat temperature relies on the type of wood, then oak and maple should burn the longest and give off more heat because they are dense hardwoods. Research: The terms hardwood and softwood refer to the density of wood, how hard it is, and how much weight it has. A dense hardwood like oak or maple has high energy content per cord, so it releases more heat and produces long-lasting embers. Hardwood is the best type of firewood for long lasting warmth and cooking but can sometimes be hard to ignite and split†¦show more content†¦Fuel is a less combustible material that burns slow and steady once lit, like tree trunks, coal and oil. Aunt Rosanas Rocker

Aunt Rosanas Rocker-hispanic-a Essay Aunt Rosanas RockerAs times change, everything changes with it. The rolesthat women take on have changed in certain cultures, but insome cultures they have remained the same. Before, men weretreated with more respect and superiority, while women hadno voices or say in the events that took place in theirsociety. Today, there are situations where men are takenmore seriously than women, but slowly, women are beingtreated with respect and play an active role in theircommunity and have involved themselves within theircommunity. In certain cases the roles never change becausethe people do not change along with the society. In thosecases, the roles are usually permanent because of theircharacter or personalities and how they were raised. Theways that some people were raised and their environment arethe direct cause to why they may be the way they are. AuntRosanas Rocker; by Nicholasa Mohr presents a story where itdiscusses the lives of a married couple and how they arestruggling with issues that involve not only the marriage, but themselves. In a way, it does not directly talk aboutthe different roles they play, but it can be seen andunderstood through the events that take place and throughthe way the characters act. Castro, who is one of the main characters of the storyis married to Zoraida. Zoraidas husband, Castro, is thehead of the family and is the one who is working andsupporting the family. He had even considered sleeping onthe living room couch, but he would not be driven out of hisown bed. He was still a man after all, a macho, master ofhis home, someone to be reckoned with, not be pushed out.; (Aunt Rosanas Rocker pg. 81) Castro is a masculine figureand takes on the role of the husband. He supports and takescare of his family, but the character thinks of himself morethan a caretaker. He is prideful and arrogant. As a malefigure it is understandable that they may take on the roleof someone who is confident and strong, but Castro takes ita step further by implying that he is the only one who iscapable of handling matters and is someone who only thinksabout himself. There would be times that Castro would be portrayed assomeone who is patient and understanding, but underneaththat disguise h e was a man who had intentions and only caredfor his own well being. Putting down his hands, Castroopened his eyes. All he could do was wait patiently, as healways did, wait for her to finish.; (Aunt Rosanas Rockerpg. 81) He had no slept properly since this whole affairstarted. After all, he had to drive out to New Jersey toearn his living and his strength and sleep were being sappedaway. (pg. 81) He would even tell his family good thingsabout his wife, but he was only doing so that he couldbenefit from it. As a male figure, Castro wanted control andwanted to have control of others. Every time I go nearher at night, or two or three in the morning, she relaxes. He raised his hand and slammed the table, God damnedchair!;; He couldnt control Zoraidas sickness and make herstop going to the rocking chair. He could not comprehendwhat she was emotionally feeling and the issues that she hadwith him and herself. He became even more upset because hedid not understand why some of the things th at she did werenot the ways she treated him. To think my handsome, healthy son, who could have hadany girl he wanted, picked this one.; (pg. 89) The waythat Castro was raised helped him to be the way he was. Hismothers mentality of how his son was so handsome and betterthan others may have caused Castro to think that he wassuperior to others. He may be receiving his confidencethrough this mother or it may be that he truly feels that heis man of many qualities and talents. In a way, the issuesthat he is having with his wife and how he constantly bringsup the idea that he is macho; can be from his insecurity. He may not be feeling man enough or may be even feeling thathe isnt being taken care of. Its a way to attractattention and to be the center of attention. In this story, there is a part where he doesnt understand why she doesntfeel certain things with him. Castro remembered how shealways urged him to hurry, be quiet, and get it over with,on account of the children. A lot she cares about himtonight! Never in all their years of marriage had she everuttered such sounds-he shook his head-or shown any passionor much interest in doing it.; (pg. 82) Men believe thatthey need to take on the role of a masculine figure, and tobe the best. Through his macho; attitude, he is portrayinghis insecurity indirectly. Physically he may be powerfuland strong, but his mind may be powerless. Zoraida on the other hand is seen very timid and weak, but inside she is a woman who contains much strength andendurance. And, shes like, well, like a little sticksparrow flirting with death and having the upperhand. Quietly stubborn, you know? Now at all submissive like itmight seem to just anybody looking at Zoraida. Its more asif nobodys gonna make the sparrow healthy, but it aintgonna die eitherlike its got the best of both world, see?; (pg. 85) Not even knowing who she was Castro wasable to figure out how Zoraida was. This is what attractedCastro to Zoraida in the beginning. Her role as a w oman was to be a mother and a wife. .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 , .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .postImageUrl , .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 , .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:hover , .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:visited , .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:active { border:0!important; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:active , .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90 .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub2beb12fcd88b63219aa44cf0b1c3c90:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: My Dream Vacation EssayShes clean, hardworking and obedient.; (pg. 89) Zoraidatakes on her role as a housewife and finds herself onlybeing a housewife. She is powerless and shy when dealingwith her family. Go ahead. Answer, por Dios!; I;Zoraida cleared her throat in an effort to speak louder.; Since her husband is so loud and bold and the opposite fromher, her way of expressing or dealing with life is throughthe rocking chair and through the sexual dreams that she hadat night. She looked over at the empty space near thewindow. It was gone. She wouldnt be able to sit thereanymore and meet all her suitors and be beautiful.; (pg. 95) Her rocking chair was a part of her and was a part ofher imaginary world that she created after she stoppedhaving the sexual dreams. For her to create this imaginaryworld, she was lacking something from her husband or fromlife. Although her husband is a hard worker, he does notmake her happy. This is where she is in control and whereshe can be the most happy and away from all her troubles. Lately, it had become the one place where she felt shecould be herself, where she could really be free.; (pg. 94) She could never be who she really wanted to be because ofher husband. She was slowly giving up and withdrawing fromher family and life itself. As a woman, you are to be strong, but Zoraida wasntstrong. She depended on a rocking chair to get through herlife troubles. She could not even depend on her own husbandwho is supposed to be the male figure in her life. Zoraidas mother on the other hand was different from herown daughter. The relationship that her parents have aremuch differen t, they depend on each other and look to eachother for support. Listen to me,; Don Isidro spoke in afirm voice, if its the chair that bothers you, then welltake it back home with us. Right, Mama?; He turned to DonaClara who nodded emphatically. There should be noobjection to that, eh?; (pg. 93) Seeing this, her parentshave a balanced relationship where one or the other does nothave more power in the family. Looking at it from a different point of view, the wayshe was raised could be a factor in why she was so shy andquiet. But, he too was lucky to get our Zoraida. Afterall, we brung her up proper and right.; (pg. 90) Growingup, Zoraida may have been pampered and well taken care ofespecially since she was born premature. The miraclebaby,; they had said, Mr. Cuesta, your daughter is amiracle. She should not be alive.; (pg. 90) Hearing this, any parent would have given their best to their child forthe reason that their own child may have not made it. Sincetheir child was born premature, this could be a reason whyshe is so thin. Don Isidro sighed, the mother of threechildren and she hasnt filled out she still have thebody of a twelve-year old. Well, after all, she was bornpremature, weighing only two pounds at birth.; (pg. 90) Herthin like appearance can give people the impression that sheis weak physically and weak mentally. This could have beenthe cause of why she was quiet and reserved. Appearances and personalities play a huge role of howthe man and the woman will respond and how they will betreated. Some people are so blind that they will never seewho the person really is inside and how he/she is trulyfeeling or what he/she may be thinking. Society usually hasa part in deciding how the male and the female will be andthe roles that they take up in their relationship together. In this case, it seems as if Castro and Zoraida were givencertain roles to play in the story. It has to do with theirenvironment when they were growing up and how they wereraised. The way they were treated was the result of how theyturned out to be when they got older. Castro being themacho and confident male figure while Zoraida being thequiet and the coy female figure, there was no balance withtheir personalities. One would always be stronger than theother. Zoraida accepted her life for what it was and as thefemale role that she played, she would have to be obedientto her husband while he tried to take control of himself andhis wife.
